Terms of Agreement
Your access to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Health Nexus Website is granted upon your acceptance and compliance with these Terms and Conditions which include the Crown's Copyright Policy.
The intent of the DHHS Health Nexus Website is to create a positive environment where people are able to contribute and share knowledge with other Website users without fear of abuse, harassment or exposure to offensive or otherwise inappropriate content.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reserves the right to change or discontinue all or any aspects of these Terms and Conditions of Use at any time. This can include content, hours of availability, equipment required for access, and these Terms and Conditions of Use.
When posting content in the DHHS Health Nexus Website, you agree that you will:
- post material that is relevant to the issues currently being consulted on;
- represent your own views and not impersonate or falsely represent any other person; not post material that infringes the intellectual property rights of others;
- not promote commercial interests in your posts;
- not be abusive, harass or threaten others;
- not make defamatory comments;
- not use insulting, provocative or hateful language;
- not use obscene or offensive language;
- not post anything which racially or religiously vilifies others, incites, induces or aids violence, discrimination, harassment, victimisation or hatred towards others, or likely to offend, insult or humiliate others, particularly on the basis of their race, colour, descent, national origin, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation or any disability.
- Ensure any posts you make do not impinge on another person's or entity's copyright.
Posts that do not comply (or do not appear to comply) with the above points will be removed.
Comments by users are not endorsed by DHHS
DHHS does not necessarily endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify or agree with the comments, opinions or statements posted by users in the DHHS Health Nexus Website. Any information or material placed online by users, including advice and opinions, is the view and responsibility of those users and does not necessarily represent the view of DHHS.
Materials provided by others
You agree that DHHS is not responsible, and shall have no liability to you, with respect to any information or materials posted by others, including without limitation defamatory, offensive or illicit material.
The DHHS Health Nexus Website is provided on an "as is" basis without any warranties or representation of any kind and the DHHS does not accept any liability arising from any interruption in availability.
The DHHS will employ all reasonable efforts to provide ongoing access to this site but does not guarantee that your access will be uninterrupted. There may be interruptions to services to facilitate urgent, routine or ongoing maintenance by DHHS staff.
Access and Hardware
You agree that you are responsible for procuring and installing the required software and\or peripheral devices computer in order to use the DHHS Health Nexus Website.
Peripheral devices can include but is not limited to devices such as webcams, laptops, desktop PC and printers.
You agree that you are responsible for provision of internet access, and all associated usage costs, with an internet service provider.
DHHS does not provide any technical system support in resolving problems with your computer or internet network connection.
Your DHHS Website System Administrator is your point of contact if you experience any functionality or availability issues with the DHHS Health Nexus Website. The System Administrator will work with you to identify the cause of the problem and (if it is resolved to be a problem with the Website System itself rather than a local PC\desktop issue), liaise with internal DHHS service desk technical personnel on your behalf.
The Department will not be liable to you or third parties for interruptions to the service beyond our control this includes but not limited to:
- Issues with your telecommunications services;
- Issues with your Internet Service Provider; or
- Issues with your hardware or software.
General Internet Security
The DHHS recommends that all computers used to access DHHS Health Nexus Website will need an internet security package installed which will protect you from viruses and keep your online identity safe.
The package of computer security software should include:
- Anti-virus – stops viruses from damaging your computer
- Anti-spyware – protects your computer from viruses that try to monitor what you're doing online
- Firewall – monitors information going in and out of your computer to stop unauthorised access
It's important to make sure the internet security package is set to automatically download the daily antivirus updates so you're protected against the latest threats.
It is not the responsibility of the Department to supply you with this software.
Monitoring of Website usage
The DHHS Health Nexus Website uses Google Analytics to monitor website system use. That system only collects anonymous traffic data and no user is personally identified. The relevant authorised DHHS personnel may view those system usage and audit reports for the purpose of improving the service that is the DHHS Health Nexus Website without notice.
All information contained within the DHHS Health Nexus Website or through links to internal or external sources is provided for informational purposes only. Such information does not constitute professional advice, and that such information should not be relied upon to make critical clinical or other decisions. This practice ensures the Tasmanian Government does not impinge on another person or entity's copyright. Failure to comply with this practice may result in your post being removed or your account suspended or terminated.
Usernames, Passwords and Security
You are responsible for the use of your confidential username and password and for maintaining their security and you are responsible for any use whatsoever of your username and password whether authorised or not. You must not share any access codes or passwords provided to you for the use of this DHHS Health Nexus Website with anyone.
Identifiable Patient or Client Information
You must not and will not post demographic or other information about a client or patient that will allow a user to identify that client or patient.
DHHS has the right to terminate your ability to access the DHHS Health Nexus Website, for any reason, without notice.

Copyright in this site (including system information, content and design) is owned by the by the Crown in Right of Tasmania represented by the Department of Health and Human Services.
